5 Reasons Why Buying a Kindle Is the Best Investment You Could Make

A few months back I bought an Amazon Kindle, and it changed my life.

It has been one of the best investments I made in my self-improvement journey. The purchase turned me into a daily reader and made reading effective.

E-Ink Display #1:

The display feels like paper and causes no eye strain.

The time I used to spend on my phone has reduced significantly. The blue lights emitted from smartphones are harmful. But we are addicted to our devices. Choosing to pick Kindle tricks our brains into thinking we are on our smartphones.

Buying Books #2:

Purchasing books is a frictionless experience.

All it takes is a few clicks and few seconds to get the book delivered. No more waiting for the delivery to happen. No worries about the shelf space. And e-books being way cheaper than physical books helps us to buy more books for the same budget.

Tracking Reads #3:

GoodReads is a book tracking and review website owned by Amazon.

It is a breeze to update our readings on GoodReads from the Kindle. Sharing our reading journey along the way helps us in staying accountable. Kindle tracks our reading streaks, and it acts as a motivation to keep reading daily.

Highlighting #4:

A study says that we only retain 20% of what we read.

It becomes important to have a proper highlighting system in place. With Kindle, highlighting becomes intuitive. All the highlights I make get exported to an app called ReadWise. And ReadWise sends me daily emails resurfacing my highlights. This cycle helps me retain more of what I read.

Dictionary #5:

Reading when combined with a dictionary helps us build our vocabulary.

These days we shy from sitting with those bulky physical dictionaries. So there come the digital dictionaries. The problem is we could end up in a social media scrolling frenzy. It breaks the whole reading flow. In Kindle learning a new vocabulary is just one long press away.

_

The only con I found after buying the Kindle is that I have been purchasing a way lot more books. But is plausible the fact that my readings have increased.
